The floods of the river Arlanzón
Although the waters of the Arlanzón are dammed in its first part in the Arlanzón reservoir, built as a concrete dam. In order to reduce the growth of the river.
And what had, or has, the function of regulating the inflows that the Arlanzón receives from the thawing of the snow that occurs in the Sierra de la Demanda, continues to cause significant flooding of the river, which results in flooding in the city.
Even now, these floods continue to occur and inundate the town during the rainy season. As you can see in the video.

Curiosities
It is a love story. Framed by the passage of the river Arlanzón through the city of Burgos. In which it flirts with some kilometres that have been baptised as The Ways of the Water that follow the Arlanzón.
The city has a fortress that watches over it and the Arlanzón, from a privileged place in the Cerro de San Miguel.
It is said that they made a promise of good fortune and at the same time they showed each other courtesy. Could it be the same with Berlin and the Spree, or perhaps Russia and the Volga?
What they give each other as a token of their love

- The Puete de Malatos
- The bridge of Santa Maria

- The bridge of San Pablo
And so they have been caressing each other for centuries, professing a love that has never tired of routine. This is also how the bridges on the Arga River meet.
